This is an opportunity for a talented and creative individual to provide strategic leadership to enhance the research development and impact culture across The University of Manchester. The role has four key elements:

  • Enable programs focused on delivering the strategic objectives of The University of Manchester, to improve our ability to secure major funding and to deliver world leading research and impact beyond academia.
  • Foster, manage and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the highest quality and influential interactions with external funding agencies.
  • Facilitate collaborative links and interdisciplinary research interactions across the University.
  • Ensure that our research strengths and impact are communicated internally, locally and globally.

You will be interested in shaping institutional research development and impact strategy, be able to make connections between different opportunities and link the right people across the university. You will have excellent people and communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge as well as a track record of building and leading collaborative relationships and professional networks. The ability to think in strategic terms is essential and you will be a proven self-starter. You should provide evidence in your application that you meet the essential knowledge, skills and experience stated in the job description. You will be part of the Directorate of Research and Business Engagement which supports the ongoing development of strategy and policy for the University’s research and business engagement activities, and you will be a key member of the University’s research development and impact community.
