Research Associate/Fellow in Electrical Machines (Fixed term) at University of Nottingham

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented researcher to join the PEMC group and become a core member of a team developing state-of-the-art reliability assessing techniques for future automotive motor drives. Applications are invited for the above position to join the growing Power Electronics, Machines and Drives Research Group at the University of Nottingham. The PEMC group has undergone a significant period of growth and now has over 150 members, with 18 academics (including 7 full professors) and approximately 120 PhD students and post-doctoral research fellows. The group has excellent facilities for experimental work including approximately 2500m2 of research space and a construction and testing capability up to 5MW. The current post arises from projects with key industrial partners in the field of electromagnetic design of electrical machines for which a research fellow with experience in electrical machine design is required.

Candidates must hold a PhD (or about to obtain) in engineering, with a major component in electrical machines design and analysis. The applicant must be able to demonstrate that they can apply finite element packages to the design and analysis of different types of electrical machines. It is essential that the candidate has good knowledge of packages such as ANSYS, Magnet, and JMAG. The ability to work in a team, lead both internally and externally, and
