Assistant Professor – Director of Student Experience and Progression (106465-0922)

£43,414 – £51,805 per annum

Permanent position, 1.0 FTE.

The Center for Lifelong Learning invites applications for a new Assistant Professor – Director of Student Experience and Progression (DSEP). The postholder will act as a bridge between students and staff to influence the strategic development of enhancement activities in relation to the student experience in the department.

The successful candidate will be an academic with a PhD and have a track record of delivering high quality, innovative teaching. The Center has both a diverse program offer at UGT and PGT, and student population (non-traditional adult learners, international students, students on professional development courses), and the DSEP will be required to lead on developing strategies and initiatives that enhance their experience. and assure progression at pre-university, at-university and post-university phases of a student’s relationship with University.

The postholder will also oversee the monitoring of student progression and welfare throughout their registration to support personal tutoring, proactive intervention, and ensure maximum performance of all students, upgrading of feedback, pedagogical innovation, additional transferable study skills and employability; and the post-university development of alumni relations, linking back to recruitment, access and widening participation, and employability.

The DSEP will oversee the implementation and analysis of University and national surveys eg end of term surveys, NSS and PTES as well as the implementation of Centre-wide action plans and enhancement activities to improve the student experience.

The DSEP will also lead the Student Support Team and line manage staff working within that team (Senior Tutor, Student Engagement Coordinator, Student Welfare Officer).
