UAL is looking for a new Staff Development Consultant to join the diverse and talented People Strategy hub team within HR. This is an exciting time to join UAL; We have a new University Strategy, and the new People Strategy will be launched imminently. Anti-racism, Inclusion, Social Purpose are core UAL priorities and the Staff Development team will be focused on these areas to support staff and students to reach their full potential.
You will support the University Strategy and People Strategy priorities by working to produce a schedule of EDI events in collaboration with our EDI colleagues, working with them as subject matter experts. You will also collaborate with EDI, HR, OD and SD colleagues on EDI culture change projects and act as a consultant to our internal stakeholders and clients and also build close relationships with our external suppliers.
You will have an organizational/staff development background but work closely with the EDI team to develop EDI training programs and training events which are underpinned by the EDI Strategy, Anti-Racism Strategy and People Strategy. You will use your OD design and facilitation skills to translate these EDI priorities and culture change projects, into staff development initiatives working alongside EDI team members for content, advice, guidance and expert knowledge.
You will provide a consultancy service to our HR colleagues and other internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, HR Business Partners, line managers and staff developers.

You are essentially an OD practitioner, with experience at all levels of the training cycle, with internal consultancy and coaching skills. The only difference being that this role will have a focus on EDI learning and training. You will therefore work closely with the EDI team as subject matter experts to develop EDI staff development programs. You will also use your facilitation skills to deliver induction programs, personal effectiveness programs and work with external providers to keep our offering relevant and up to date.
In practice, you have experience of:
- Identifying learning needs
- Designing, curating, and facilitating training and events – both in person and virtually
- Project managing and delivering large scale rollout learning projects
- Being adept at building relationships and trust in large, complex organizations
- Being a team player, collaborating with colleagues with the SD, OD teams, EDI and the wider HR team
