Research Technician at UCL

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 6.

We are offering a position of a Research Technician in the laboratory of Professor Pavel Tolar in UCL’s Division of Infection and Immunity. The post will be based in the Institute for Immunity & Transplantation located in the brand new Pears Building at the Royal Free Hospital campus. The Tolar lab is interested in antibody responses to infections and vaccines. We are a highly dynamic group of researchers at the forefront of B cell immunology. One of the central questions of our research is how the presence of foreign antigens activates B cells to produce protective antibodies and why this activation sometimes causes disease, such as autoimmunity, allergy or lymphoma. We are using a variety of novel approaches ranging from molecular biophysics to animal models and analysis of patient data.

The post holder will help us to translate recent genetic screens into mouse models of vaccination and allergy and will also provide general support to the research endeavors of the Tolar lab. More information about the research of the Tolar lab can be found at: The Institute of Immunity and Transplantation aims to generate advances in the understanding of the immune system for improved diagnosis and therapy. By embedding high-quality basic research programs within a clinical environment, the Institute provides an excellent interface between science and medicine. UCL consistently ranks among the top research universities in the world and the Division holds a silver award for the Athena Swan Charter which recognizes the advancement of gender equality and aims for representation, progression and success for all.
