Job Summary

Imperial College Health NHS Trust, Imperial College London are placing There are increasingly huge greater demands for healthcare data curation to support research, clinical analysis, and evaluation programs across NWL London and nationally. To meet these demands, we are recruiting a highly experienced data developer and engineer to work collaboratively in several of the most advanced data warehousing teams in the NHS as part of our Imperial Clinical Analytics Research and Evaluation (iCARE) team. iCARE provides a unique platform that allows unprecedented ability to analyze hugely granular clinical data within the NHS via a secure trusted environment. Supported by a multidisciplinary team of talented people with a broad range of backgrounds; From clinicians to data engineers, clinical analysts to data scientists and academics, we are delivering a program of translational analytics and research to support care quality improvement locally and nationally within the NHS.

The ideal candidate will have worked within a healthcare setting using administrative and clinical datasets and have a strong skillset working in MS SQL server and Azure. The candidate will work directly with senior data engineers within the iCARE data engineering team and the Whole Systems Integrated Care Data Engineering teams to support the research data requirements in both organizations, across full patient pathways within an integrated care system and as well as nationally. The candidate will be expected to use the latest technologies to process billions of rows of varied data by managing the ingestion through to the data interfaces, managing data quality and validation to present data in a useful and understandable format for users.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder is expected to lead on data engineering for research projects and contribute to the day-to-day running and development of the local program. They will work closely and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including clinicians, data scientists and data engineers from Imperial College London, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Whole systems Integrated Care and other NHS and research partners. They will have a willingness to collaborate with a wide cross-section of scientists and clinicians, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.

The candidate, as part of building a collaborative working environment and innovative culture, will support users in a professional manner in any basic project needs. Communicating effectively business needs to the team in complex situations in a plain and understandable manner.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or significant demonstrable relevant experience
  • Further training or significant experience in project management, financial management or supporting change management processes.
  • Ability to effectively design and build complex solutions to ingesting data
  • Experience in a data integration role with the ability to apply logical thinking using a wide range of data processing tools and techniques to build and integrate solutions in a highly complex environment
  • Proven ability to transform data from raw into a usable format for users implementing highly complex rules
  • Ability to use Azure technologies
  • Capable of constructing and delivering clear requirements and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences
