The post forms part of the HR Staff Hub which is the first point of contact for all HR, Payroll and Pensions queries and is also responsible for all transactional HR Operations for the College. The HR Assistant is part of a busy operations team that has a wide remit and high workload (average of 150 new tickets raised through the HR portal daily, answering queries and other high volume administrative tasks).

In this entry-level post, you will get exposure across the HR function, and there is excellent scope to develop your skills and knowledge, take on responsibility, and start a career in HR. You will be part of a large HR team with experienced and passionate HR professionals who will help you thrive.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Allocating and triaging incoming work items to the relevant work category queue in the HR Portal (FreshService)
  • Resolve HR, Payroll and Pension queries by pointing customers to available online help or using response templates
  • Responsible for sending out sickness absence trigger notifications to line managers, in line with the College’s Bradford score index.
  • Responding to queries about annual leave and the absence management system (TeamSeer)
  • Responsible for checking and distributing pensions welcome letters and members statements.
  • Processing basic contract changes

Essential requirements

  • To excel in this role, you will need to:
  • Have demonstrable experience of prioritizing and handling a large, varied workload to tight deadlines. Also be capable of learning processing quickly.
  • Have excellent customer service skills and be a confident communicator with the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Be a team player with a strong work ethic
  • Have an eye for detail in all correspondence and data entry
  • Be able to work diligently on their own and in a group, exhibiting use of initiative
