Research Fellow Workplace Mental Health at Coventry University

Coventry University is looking for a talented Research Fellow to join us and deliver, publish, and communicate high-impact research work within the Mental Health and Productivity Pilot.

The Midlands Engine Mental Productivity Pilot (MHPP) was delivered from 2019 to 2022, jointly funded by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department of Health and Social Care’s (DHSC) Work and Health Unit. It aims to deliver a suite of existing new and workplace mental health and wellbeing interventions and to understand the impact of these interventions on reducing levels of sickness absence, increasing employee mental wellbeing, and reducing adverse impacts on productivity. It also aims to encourage innovation and improve the evidence base around the effectiveness of specific approaches and interventions.

The post holder will research to understand and evidence the academic, policy and link between mental health and productivity in the workplace. You will document the gaps and barriers to the adoption of workplace mental well-being strategies and interventions. As part of the role, you will undertake both desk-based research and field research in the UK Midlands. This role is interdisciplinary, entailing collaborative working with other researchers in the MHPP collaboration, including product owners, researchers and policy leads within the Government.

You will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification, preferably around public mental health policy/systems or related disciplines. In addition, you will have knowledge of one or more of: Workplace mental wellbeing, Employee engagement, stakeholder collaboration and an understanding of the link between employee health and workplace productivity.

To undertake and play a lead role in the development of impactful research and consultancy activity within the University Institute of Health & Wellbeing, Research Center for Intelligent Healthcare. The role will be aligned to the research theme of Mental Health and Productivity Interventions and involve investigating their effect on the mental health and well-being of employers and employees within organizations across the Midlands region.
