We are seeking to recruit a creative and innovative tourism management and marketing tutor to join our Events, Tourism and Hospitality subject team. You can expect to teach across a portfolio of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Tourism and Events. with the possibility to take on Module/Programme Leadership roles, as well as opportunities to get involved in our ongoing curriculum development and innovative pedagogic activities. We are in the process of expanding our portfolio via non-traditional specialist learning opportunities which will provide some opportunities to deliver specialist training outside of the ‘traditional’ curriculum. The post also involves providing academic and pastoral support for students to enable them to thrive in their chosen course and build a career in their chosen profession.
You will be qualified to at least a Master’s level in a directly related discipline, with an ability to demonstrate a high level of competence in delivering engaging learning and teaching activities, with a commitment to an Active Blended Learning approach.
You will have a demonstrable specialization in three or more of the following areas:
- Destination management
- Tourism marketing (incl. digital marketing) and consumer behaviour
- Tourism & well-being
- Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in tourism
- Heritage tourism
- Cultural tourism
- Resort and spa tourism
- Dark tourism
- Rural tourism
- Sustainable/responsible tourism
- Tourism strategy and operations management
- Tourism impact assessments
- Tourism stakeholder management, and/or tourism development
- Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
- Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognized by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe
- Master’s degree in relevant subject
- Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
- Relevant professional qualification
The Faculty of Business and Law is the largest in the University of Northampton with around 200 academic staff and 5600 students. Led by a Dean, Deputy Dean and Associate Dean, we offer a broad portfolio of programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. We also maintain a number of successful academic partnerships in the UK and internationally through which several of our programs are delivered.
We are now some way into an ambitious plan to replace the majority of our existing program portfolio over the next 2-4 years whilst developing programs in new and innovative disciplines offers an exciting opportunity for individuals that share our ambitions to make a direct contribution to our continued success.
