Fly Laboratory Technician at University of Sheffield

Contract type: Fixed-term (12/09/2022 or as soon as possible thereafter to 31/03/2023)

Working pattern: 21 hours per week (60% FTE)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated technician to provide technical support for the Fly Facility and School of Biosciences. You will work within the existing laboratory team to ensure
researchers have the equipment/resources needed for their activities. Reporting to the Fly Technical Team Manager, you will maintain Drosophila stock lines, make growth media and operate
and maintain equipment.

You will provide high quality research support contributing to the success of Drosophila research within the university and supporting the work carried out by academic colleagues. Applicants must have an apprenticeship or relevant qualifications such as HND, HNC (or equivalent qualification/experience). Laboratory experience including the use of scientific equipment and IT skills are also essential requirements.
